When I finish working out, there’s nothing better than having a refreshing and filling homemade smoothie to cool down. Even if you’re not a fan of dates, trying this smoothie might just make you convert. The smoothie has an irresistible chocolaty, nutty taste (you can always add cocoa powder for an extra kick of chocolate).
Dates are a good source of energy, sugar, and fiber, which makes this smoothie a great post-workout drink. Almonds, are also high in nutrients (including fiber and protein) and are loaded with antioxidants. If you’re willing to give this healthy (but delicious) treat a try – check out the recipe below.
Ingredients:
3 medjool dates
2 tbsps. of almonds
1 banana
1 tsp. almond butter
1 tsp. shredded coconut
¾ cup almond milk
4 ice cubes
Pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg
Drop of vanilla essence
Method:
Mix all ingredients in a blender until thoroughly mixed. If you prefer your smoothie thinner you can add more milk.
